Reaching the world for Christ through Sport |
|
|
SportsReach is an interdenominational ministry which uses sport, especially soccer, as a means to reach people of all ages with the life changing reality of a personal relationship with God through the Lord Jesus Christ. Through sport, we seek to build friendships with all types of people, regardless of age, race, gender or religion to lead them to find wholesome, balanced lives with moral integrity through faith in Christ.
Soccer SchoolsThese are for children aged 7-14. A typical soccer school contains a quality coaching programme, with the purpose of developing soccer skills; fun games and competitions, to create an atmosphere of enjoyment and fun; a daily bible time, which helps to develop the moral and spiritual aspects of a child's life. We teach good sportsmanship and fair play and equal attention is given to children who have less ability. The schools are linked with local churches and have a great positive impact on the community.
Soccer Tours and MissionsWe run annual tours overseas where we play local teams as well as run soccer schools. This provides a great opportunity for local footballers to experience playing in another country, to develop lasting friendships and enjoy healthy competition. We share the reality of our faith in after-game presentations, and give out bible’s and other Christian literature if appropriate. Wherever possible we work with local churches and missionaries.
SportsReach LeagueWe have developed a league which provides competitive matches for adult players each Saturday during the football season. Each team has Christian leadership and at the beginning of each match (even friendlies) a short devotional message or testimony is given. The league is for non-church people in the community and its aim is to show the relevance of the Christian Faith.
